I've known Connie for more than two decades and we have shared many creative, funny, happy, loving and trying moments together. I have been one of the luckier ones who graduated from fan to employee to friend and practically to part of her family. When PolyGram asked me to compile a second volume of Connie's Greatest Hits, I was both honored and thrilled to do so, not realizing what a difficult task I would be undertaking. How does one condense a career which spanned over 30 years, a chart record in the United States of over 40 hits (not to mention scores of others in foreign countries) into a mere dozen songs? Where does one cut? What major nation in the Far East or South America would I be offending by the exclusion of a song which charted at No. 1 in that country? What songwriter friend would I be Offending? fans? even Connie, herself? I thought perhaps I should try a point system.- which record scored highest on the charts: Pop, R&B, Easy Listening or Country? To be frank, a definitive compilation would require several volumes... Each hit represented here will recall a fond memory for the listener, be it a first romance, a lost love, or a wintry afternoon shared with a special friend. To this day Connie has remained one of the top songstresses in the world; her unique vocal stylings keeping her there for over three decades. Give this record a listen and see if you don't agree that no other female pop singer comes dose to Connie.
