With the start of the New Millennium, Guitarist Brian Tarquin has to his credit Two Top Ten Radio Hits at NAC/Smooth Jazz, written the theme music for MTV's 1998 & 1999 Road Rules and has composed various styles of music for some of the most prominent Soap Operas (i.e. Guiding Light, General Hospital & All My Children).
Plus, has embarked on a new Rock/Electronica project, under the band name, ASPHALT JUNGLE with his writing partner Chris Ingram.
A native New Yorker, he got his start in music by working at such influential jingle houses as Look and Company before relocating to Los Angeles. From there he had the opportunity to compose music for the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics as well as produce TV commercial music for Ogilvy & Mather Advertising.
His 1996 debut album on Jazz Inspiration/MCA Records, entitled GHOST DANCE, showcased an exciting fusion of jazz, pop and world music. Since 1994 to 1998 ASCAP has honored him with the songwriters achievement award.
In October 1997 he exploded onto the scene with the album release LAST KISS GOODBYE on Instinct Records. The single ONE ARABIAN KNIGHT charted #4 on Gavin and R&R in NAC/Smooth Jazz Radio. With his 1999 follow-up album SOFT TOUCH, pushing his first single, DARLIN DARLIN BABY to #9 on the charts. Brian's music has also been featured on several of Instinct's Compilations, such as THE BEST OF ACID JAZZ Vol. II, SWEET EMOTIONS, BOSSA BRAVA CALIENTE, BEST OF SMOOTH JAZZ BLUES and THIS IS SMOOTH JAZZ: LOVE BOSSA STYLE as well as others.
JAZZ TIMES magazine describes Brian Tarquin as a musician of "…considerable skills, whose debut recording showcases ringing, harmonic-driven melodies."
