Rigmor's latest CD "On my way to you " has gone straight up to no. 1 on the jazz chart in Sweden, and has kept a high place since then. This is Rigmor's third CD on the german label ACT and it's a tribute to the French composer Michel Legrand. Rigmor has arranged all the music and invited top jazzmusicians in Sweden for the recording. A piano trio is used on all tracks, but some songs also involves saxophone and trombone, or accordeon.
Rigmor's CD, "Close to you" with Jacky Terrasson Trio, which was released in November 2004 also went fast up to no. 1 on the Swedish jazz chart, and shortly after , the CD was nominated for a Grammy Award, and on top of that it sold Gold! It was recorded in three days in July 2004 together with Jacky Terrasson on piano, Sean Smith on bass, and Eric Harland on drums. Her first CD for ACT "I will wait for you" together with Nils Landgren and the Fleshquartet, received "The Jazz Award" in Germany, was also nominated for a Grammy, and has sold Gold in Sweden.
Since 1990 Rigmor Gustafsson has been working as a freelance vocalist. In Sweden her engagements have ranged from working with several Big Bands to leading various small groups. She has recorded for the Swedish National Television and Radio, and has been featured as the musical guest in several TV shows. After moving to New York in 1993, she started working in various jazz clubs in the NYC area (Birdland, Smalls, Metronome etc.). She performed with such artists as Fred Hersch and Ted Rosenthal, and recorded alongside Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer and Dick Oatts, but was mainly performing with her own quintet to which she also composed most of the material. The Rigmor Gustafsson Quintet was formed in New York 1994 and has recorded the CDs "In the Light of Day" and "Plan # 46". In '96 Rigmor moved back to Stockholm again. There she formed a Swedish quintet with whom she recorded her third CD "Rigmor Gustafsson Live". 1996-2000 she was, besides performing, also teaching jazz voice at the Royal Academy of Music. 2002 she was signed to the German record company ACT.
2006: Tour in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Sweden, concerts in Spain, Italy, South Africa, USA. TV appeareances in Germany, Lithuania and Sweden (a.o "Sе ska det lеta, "TV-huset"). Concerts radio broadcasted in Switzerland, Germany and Sweden.
2005: Tours in Germany, Norway and Sweden, concerts in Dubai, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania. TV apearances in Germany and Sweden (a.o "Allsеng pе Skansen", "Gokvдll").
2004: Tour in Asia and Europe. Featured guest in the Swedish TV- show "Sе ska det lеta"."Timeless Journey" tour in Sweden with Nils Landgren, Claes Janson and Monica Borrfors.
2003: "Jazznights" tour in Germany, Canadian tour, Featured guest in the Swedish TV show "Allsеng pе Skansen", Performance at the Nobelprize cermony, "Timeless Journey " tour in Sweden, performance at the TV broadcasted Astrid Lindgren Prize cermony.
2002: Australian tour, European tour in Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands Luxemburg and Faeroa Islands. Featured with her quintet in concert at the Jazz Baltica Festival on German TV channel SAT 3.
2001: Lithuania, Belgium, Spain (Elorrio and the Concert Hall Las Rozas in Madrid), Greece (tour June), Norway, Germany. She was also featured in a Swedish television program form the legendary club Nalen.
2000 International concerts: Carnegie Hall in New York, Malaysia, South Africa.Recording and touring with Peter Asplunds Tribute to Armstrong. Recording and touring with the Swedish Radio Jazz Orchestra. Hostess & performer at the yearly International Stockholm Jazz festival Release of the 3-rd album "Rigmor Gustafsson Live"
